In this project, the owner would like to combine working and living spaces together while creating a nice ambience for living and protecting privacy, despite this site being located on the corner of an easy-access and bustling intersection. Furthermore, the Fengshui concept from the owner’s belief is also a main challenge.
.
These fundamental requirements lead to a concept that incorporates ‘contrast’ between private and public, residential and commercial, family and work, or even the site orientation and Feng Shui into the design, which is also integrated with comfort living, the heart of the project.
.
The inner courtyard separates the pharmacy from the living area and acts as the center of the house that connects the spaces and family members through the atmosphere. Moreover, it brings natural light and ventilation into the house as well as allowing the residents to be closer to nature.
.
Ventilation block walls are an important element in this project because they are a double skin façade that controls visibility both from outside and inside the house, maintaining the residents’ privacy while creating a good view from the outside – not only to give the place a unique identity but also to blend in with the community.
In addition, these walls also help reduce the amount of glare in the house, make the interior more comfortable, save electricity and create various lighting effects depending on the sun angles at different times.
