Due to the risk of expropriation for redevelopment and being surrounded by the hustle and bustle of streets and nearby shops, considerations for privacy, openness, comfort, and an easily disassembled structure became the big challenges that we had to keep in mind when designing this café.
.
For this reason, we designed a building with long walls which align with the street and highlight the entrance to be outstanding with curved wall edges. We faced the openings of this building to the internal courtyard and used medium-sized translucent corrugated sheets for the exterior instead of solid walls. This allows the walls to reduce visibility from both sides of the street while still allowing natural light to enter and softening harsh sunlight to create a softer ambience, suitable for work or leisure. Additionally, in the evening, warm white lights from inside the building shine through the translucent sheets, creating a striking visual impression at a different time of day.
.
Apart from the translucent sheets, steel structures and wooden panels are the other primary materials used in this building because they are lightweight while also being easy and quick to install and dismantle. Furthermore, their design complements the translucent sheets perfectly. We painted the steel structures white, applied light green to walls and used light-colored wood in special areas we wanted to highlight, aiming to create a bright and distinctive interior that reflects the homemade scent of the bakery and beverages offered by the café.
.
The various shapes and textures of shrubs are another important element that contributes to the memorable image of this café. The silhouette of the shrubs passing through the translucent sheets allows visitors to feel close to nature. Despite the presence of dividing walls, these shrubs also serve as a protective buffer, enhancing the sense of privacy for the building.
