Due to the limited landscape space, we design a courtyard which has a distinctive view on each floor, brings the family close to nature from every part of the house and connects people through a shared garden atmosphere, following the concept of a "Miniature Forest" inspired by natural forests. Different plant species with varied textures and colors are chosen to create diversity while maintaining cleanliness and safety for habitation, resembling a micro-ecosystem in an urban context.
.
Forest Floor Layer
This layer serves as the welcoming garden inside the house, with a refreshing natural forest ambiance. It is designed to be diverse in both beauty and functionality, transforming the rigid interior space into a lively and flexible living area. We design alternating low and high berms with free-flowing pathways and water features to integrate seamlessly with tropical-style plants. Tower trees provide shade while weeping willow trees are used as the focal point to this courtyard and create an aesthetic by their shadows on the entry walls. Additionally, a misting system is installed to reduce indoor temperatures, reduce dust, purify the air and maintain the lush greenery.
.
Understory Layer
The second floor features a balcony designed as a semi-outdoor recreational space which connects the relaxing area inside the house with the overlapping views of the trees. We enhance the atmosphere with vertical gardens and a tool storage wall design, emphasize the sky light by shrubs and hanging ivy and add some fun to the area using a modular garden with benches.
.
Canopy Layer
As the third floor is the private zone of the house, privacy is a key focus. External screens and the tower tree's canopy help us achieve this while maintaining a comfortable atmosphere.
.
Treetop Layer
This rooftop garden serves as a family leisure space. We provide flexible and functional areas for food preparation, dining, and socializing, while incorporating various types of shrubs to create a safe and private environment without obstructing the panoramic cityscape.
